Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how YumiGo collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use yumigo.com, the YumiGo passenger and driver services, and related support channels (together, the Services).
YumiGo is operated by Antap Digital in Port Vila, Vanuatu (YumiGo, we, us or our). YumiGo is a technology platform that connects passengers with independent taxi, private-car and bus drivers. YumiGo does not itself provide transport services or employ drivers.
If you have a privacy question or request, contact us at hello@yumigo.com.
1. Information we collect
The information we collect depends on whether you visit our website, join a waitlist, use YumiGo as a passenger, apply or operate as a driver, or contact us.
Information you provide
- Account and contact information: your name, mobile number, email address (where provided), preferred language and account credentials or verification codes.
- Passenger information: pickup location, destination, booking details, trip notes, accessibility or pickup instructions, messages sent through the Services, and support enquiries.
- Driver and vehicle information: your name, contact details, profile photo, driver's licence and other identity or eligibility documents, vehicle type, registration and vehicle details, operating area, and any permits or documents required to assess or maintain your eligibility.
- Waitlist and enquiry information: your name, mobile number, optional email address, vehicle type, operating area, and the contents of messages sent through our website, email, WhatsApp, Messenger or other support channels.
- Other information you choose to provide: including feedback, incident reports and supporting material.
Please do not include sensitive information in trip notes or messages unless it is necessary.
Information collected when you use YumiGo
- Location information: approximate or precise location from your device, when you give the Services permission to access it. This may include pickup and destination points and, during an active booking, the live location of the passenger and driver. Location is used to request, match, provide and monitor trips.
- Trip information: requested service type, route, estimated distance and time, fare shown, booking status, driver acceptance, pickup and completion times, cancellations, and related service records.
- Communications information: in-app messages and associated metadata needed to connect passengers and drivers, provide support, investigate incidents and protect users.
- Device, log and security information: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, app version, timestamps, error logs, diagnostic information and security events. For website waitlist and contact submissions, we may retain a one-way hashed representation of an IP address to detect spam and abuse.
- Website preferences: language and similar preferences may be stored on your device.
Cash payments
YumiGo currently supports cash payments made directly by the passenger to the driver. We do not collect or store passenger card or digital-wallet details for those cash trips. We may record the fare, payment method and whether a trip was marked as paid for booking, support, safety and record-keeping purposes.
If we introduce card or digital-wallet payments, we will update this Policy and provide information about the payment provider and data handling before those payment methods are used.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create, verify and manage passenger and driver accounts;
- assess driver applications and confirm driver and vehicle eligibility;
- receive trip requests, calculate and display fares, match passengers with available drivers, and support pickup, live tracking, messaging and trip completion;
- send service messages, including SMS verification codes, booking updates and important safety or account notices;
- respond to enquiries, complaints, lost-property reports and safety incidents;
- prevent spam, fraud, misuse and threats to the safety or security of users and the Services;
- maintain, troubleshoot, analyse and improve the Services;
- enforce our Terms of Service and driver requirements;
- comply with legal, regulatory, insurance and law-enforcement obligations; and
- notify waitlist members about launch or service availability.
We use personal information only where we have a legitimate operational or legal reason to do so, where it is necessary to provide the Services you request, or where you have given permission—for example, through your device settings for precise location or notifications.
3. When we share information
We do not sell personal information.
We may disclose information as follows:
- Between passengers and drivers: to arrange and complete a trip. For example, a passenger may receive a driver's first name, profile photo, vehicle details, live approach location and contact or in-app messaging options. A driver may receive the passenger's first name, pickup and destination details, live pickup location, trip notes and contact or in-app messaging options.
- With service providers: companies that provide hosting, databases, mapping and routing, SMS delivery, email delivery, communications, security, error monitoring and customer-support services. They may process information only to provide services to us and subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- For safety and legal reasons: emergency services, regulators, law-enforcement agencies, courts, insurers, professional advisers or other parties where reasonably necessary to respond to an emergency, investigate an incident, comply with law, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, safety and property of YumiGo, users or the public.
- In a business transaction: a prospective or actual buyer, investor or successor in connection with a merger, financing, reorganisation, sale of assets or similar transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
- With your direction or consent: where you ask us to share information or clearly agree to it.
Drivers are independent service providers and are responsible for handling any personal information they receive outside YumiGo in accordance with applicable law and only for legitimate trip, safety or legal purposes.
4. International processing
Some technology providers may store or process information outside Vanuatu. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to select reputable providers and require appropriate protections for personal information. Privacy and data-protection laws in another country may differ from those in Vanuatu.
5. How long we keep information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain safety and transaction records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and meet legal obligations.
In general:
- unsuccessful one-time verification codes expire quickly;
- active account and driver eligibility information is retained while the account remains open and for a reasonable period afterwards;
- trip, fare, safety and support records may be retained after account closure where needed for safety, complaints, legal compliance or dispute resolution;
- driver documents are reviewed and retained only for as long as needed to assess and evidence eligibility or meet legal requirements;
- waitlist information is retained until launch follow-up is complete or you ask us to remove it; and
- information may remain for a limited period in secure backups before being deleted or overwritten.
We may retain de-identified or aggregated information that can no longer reasonably identify you.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, secure communications and measures intended to detect misuse. No online service or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for keeping your device and account secure. Do not share an SMS verification code or allow another person to use your driver account.
7. Your choices and requests
You may:
- review or update certain account details through the Services;
- enable or disable location, camera and notification permissions through your device settings, although some features may not work without them;
- ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you;
- ask questions or raise concerns about our handling of your information; and
- ask to leave the waitlist or stop receiving non-essential launch messages.
Send requests to hello@yumigo.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We may retain information where reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or the rights of another person.
8. Website cookies and similar technologies
Our public website does not currently use advertising cookies or track you across other websites. It may use storage that is strictly necessary to operate the site or remember a preference on your device. If we introduce non-essential analytics or advertising technologies, we will update this Policy and provide any notice or choice required by applicable law.
9. Third-party services
The Services may link to or communicate through third-party services such as maps, WhatsApp, Messenger or your mobile carrier. Their handling of personal information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. YumiGo is not responsible for third-party services that you choose to use outside our Services.
10. Children
YumiGo accounts are not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly allow a person under 18 to register as a passenger or driver. An adult passenger may request a lawful trip for a minor only where permitted by YumiGo's safety rules and the driver has agreed to the arrangement. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact hello@yumigo.com.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the Services develop or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practicable.
